Lead Software Engineer (m/f/x)

Berlin
Full-time
Permanent employee
95,000 - 120,000 € per year

Summary

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer (m/f/x) to help shape the long-term technical direction of the platform that is driving FACTUREE's digital transformation of the manufacturing industry.

You'll join a small team of dedicated software engineers and work closely with Product and QA to strengthen our architecture, establish engineering standards, and ensure our platform remains scalable and maintainable as it continues to grow.

This is a technical leadership role, not a people management position. If you enjoy solving complex architectural challenges, mentoring engineers, and improving engineering practices while remaining close to implementation, this role is designed for you.

How we build software

We care about building a team where people enjoy their work and enjoy working together. Product and Engineering collaborate closely, and everyone is encouraged to contribute ideas, take ownership, and challenge assumptions.

We believe responsibility goes hand in hand with trust, open communication, and supporting each other. That creates an environment where people can do their best work while continuously learning and improving.

Your responsibilities with us

  • Define and continuously evolve the overall architecture of our platform
  • Improve system modularity, maintainability, scalability, and long-term technical coherence
  • Identify technical risks early and drive sustainable architectural decisions that reduce future complexity
  • Establish engineering standards and continuously improve development practices across the team
  • Foster a strong code quality and review culture while promoting pragmatic engineering excellence
  • Support engineers through mentoring, pairing, architectural guidance, and technical decision-making
  • Help engineers build ownership of their technical domains while ensuring consistency across the overall platform
  • Shape engineering practices for AI-assisted software development and establish quality standards for their effective use
  • Collaborate closely with the AI Application Engineer to integrate AI capabilities into our platform in a sustainable and maintainable way
  • Partner closely with Product on solution design, technical feasibility, implementation trade-offs, and delivery risks
  • Stay hands-on by contributing to architecture-heavy and technically challenging initiatives

Your professional skills

  • Several years of experience as a Senior, Lead, or Staff Engineer with significant architectural responsibility
  • Proven track record of evolving complex, mature production systems under real business constraints
  • Strong fullstack expertise, particularly with Node.js, TypeScript, and React (or comparable frameworks)
  • Deep understanding of backend architecture, APIs, integrations, and clear system boundaries
  • Solid experience with AWS-based production environments and serverless or event-driven architectures (e.g., Lambda, DynamoDB)
  • Experience with containerized deployments (ideally ECS/Fargate), CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code
  • Sound knowledge of data stores such as MongoDB-compatible databases, Redis, or S3
  • Extensive experience using AI tools in day-to-day software development and the ability to establish standards for it
  • Prior exposure to AWS CDK, Parse Server, LLM integrations, or manufacturing/ERP software is a welcome bonus, but not a must

Your personal skills

  • Strong ownership mentality and the drive to take over technical responsibility
  • Ability to make sound architectural choices and direction decisions despite ambiguity
  • Pragmatic mindset balanced with long-term systems thinking and problem-solving
  • Excellent communication skills combined with a natural orientation toward coaching and mentoring
  • Capability to constructively challenge assumptions and see the bigger picture
  • Continuous learning mindset and openness to adopting new technological shifts

What makes this role interesting

  • Shape the architecture of a mature, workflow-heavy software platform with real business impact
  • Help define engineering standards and technical practices that will guide the team's future growth
  • Work on challenging problems at the intersection of manufacturing, procurement, automation, and AI
  • Collaborate closely with Product to influence both technical direction and product evolution
  • Help integrate AI capabilities into production systems that solve meaningful customer problems
  • Join a team where technical quality, pragmatic decision-making, and long-term thinking are valued over unnecessary process

What we offer to you

  • Flat hierarchies, collegial cooperation, and many opportunities to contribute ideas
  • Permanent employment contract
  • Family-friendly personnel policy
  • Structured onboarding from day one, joint growth, and gradual assumption of more responsibility
  • Training budget and individual support for skills development and mental health
  • Access to corporate benefits platform
  • 50 € monthly benefit in kind
  • State-of-the-art technical equipment, including MacBook, iPhone, noise-canceling headphones, height-adjustable desks, two monitors, and an additional monitor for your home office
  • 6 days of home office allowance per month
  • Daily free lunch together, freshly prepared by our chef
  • Free drinks, snacks, fruit, and breakfast
  • Subsidy for the Deutschlandticket
  • Regular company and team events
  • Large office with air-conditioned workspace
  • Pleasant working environment in Berlin's Osram-Höfe with terrace, nearby shopping facilities, gym, brewery, restaurants, and bars
  • Very good transport connections and free parking

About us

FACTUREE has succeeded in establishing a completely new form of parts procurement: Until now, it has been incredibly challenging for engineers to find the right manufacturers for their technical components. Due to strong price fluctuations, high quality differences and slow response times, conventional procurement of custom parts was very non-transparent, time-consuming and often frustrating.

With the help of FACTUREE, companies and research institutes can now easily procure their individual components online and on demand. Our team combines their technical know-how with the intelligence of our self-developed software system. Within our network, we always find the most suitable manufacturing partners in terms of quality, lead time and price. Our customers also benefit from rapid quotations and our excellent customer service.

The drivers of our success are entrepreneurial action, a hands-on mentality and efficiency. We are proud of the fact that we continue to grow organically - so far always profitably and without investor funding. Our working atmosphere is characterized by continuous learning and mutual support. Our diverse teams place particular emphasis on team spirit and a sense of responsibility in their daily work. With this mindset, we want to continue to innovate the market and our company.
